Dr. Karam Jaradat received a grant titled Unraveling the Grain-Scale Mechanism of Soil Thermal Behavior from the Department of War. Dr. Jaradat leads the GeoRL: The Geomaterials Research Laboratory and through this new grant will expand the laboratory's capability by acquiring a temperature-controlled atomic force microscope (AFM) and an X-ray micro computed tomography (micro-CT) scanner. These instruments will facilitate the application of realistic in-situ temperature variations to soils, enabling real-time, high-resolution measurements across soil types, thereby simulating conditions found in challenging environments.
